Here are just some of my electronic toys... hope you enjoy taking a glimpse into what I spend my money on. You can also read my review of each gadget I have, in case you want to buy one for yourself.

New Computer - 10/2003
So, I've gone and done it again, I built myself a whole new system. Did I really need it? Many say "No, you have too many as it is!" But for me, the truth is that I'm the type of guy that needs the best, if I know it is possible to do something faster, I want to be able to do it. So now that I've explained all that, let's get into the details of the machine... entire article.

Archos Jukebox Recorder 15
Wow, does this mp3 player pack a punch. First off, its a hard drive based mp3 player, so it has a ton of space, 15 GB of space! Now, I don't have anywhere near that amount of music, but I do have a fairly large amount, and its good to know that I can store hundreds of songs without any worry of running out of space. Keep in mind, its basically a portable hard drive that can play mp3's, so you can also carry around other files with you that you may want to move from computer to computer and just don't want to waste a cd.

Its also very simple to transfer files to the Jukebox, you can connect it up to the computer using USB, so you can plug it in just about anywhere you take it. As a note though, I'm pretty sure in most cases you need to have the drivers installed before it will correctly detect the player, so this may be a little bother. The battery life has also been quite impressive, I believe specs say it can last up to 10 hours, but I have never killed the battery before charging, so I don't know for sure. All I know is that it lasts a long time and is great for trips.

Finally, the most important part, the quality. I'd have to say that it is very impressive coming from an mp3 player. I have never heard it skip and the quality is great, you can encode the mp3's at higher quality formats and it can sound even better, but even at average quality, this player makes them sound great. With various customizable features for audio, you can get the exact quality you want. And with the ability to play folders, all songs, in shuffled order or not, or even playlists, this player does just about everything you could ever need.

Unfortunately, this model is hard to find, but check out the Archos website here.

Toshiba Satellite 5105-S607
So this is my new kick ass laptop. Man is this thing fast, it boots up in great time and just about every program loads faster than my desktop. It sports a 1.7 GHz Pentium 4 processor, a 40 GB hard drive, 512 megs of ram and a GeForce 4 440 mobile video card. All that together and this thing packs a huge punch, it can run some games at a higher resolution than my desktop can! Extremely impressive...

It has a 15" display that looks beautiful. The viewing angles are much better on this laptop than any other that I've seen. It can run up to a resolution of 1600x1200 pixels and the images are very crisp. Of course, since it is only a 15" display, it can be very difficult to see some things on the screen just because they appear too small, although they are very clear.

It came with a built in network card, modem, DVD-CD writable combo drive, various other inputs and it can output to RCA cables so you can hook it up the television. The speakers on the computer are also very impressive, great sound, even a sub woofer. I definitely recommend this laptop as a desktop replacement computer, I'm almost considering getting rid of my desktop for it... almost...

Canon Powershot S300 Digital Elph
Ok, so here's my digital camera and so far its been working out pretty well for me. I've only had it for a little but the picture quality is great, you can't ask for much better. Its incredibly small, it fits better in my pocket than my wallet does, which is incredible.

Ok, one great feature of the camera is this feature that allows for panaramic shots. What the camera does is takes a normal shot, but then displays part of it on the LCD to allow you to line up the next shot. Then after you take a series of images and upload them to your computer, a program that comes with the camera stitches them all together. It looks great and is a really cool feature that I like.

Overall I think its a great camera and I'm very glad I picked it out, battery life could be better and you definitely need a larger memory card than what it comes with, but otherwise the camera has worked out very well for me.

Sony Clié PEG-N710C
This is my handheld. Its pretty cool, it has lots of features, a very nice color display, it can even play audio files like mp3's. It has an 8-MB built in memory and it comes with an 8-MB memory stick. But you can buy a much larger one to expand the memory as you see fit.

As you can see in the image, the color display supports lots of colors and is pretty damn clear and crisp. Its a square display at 320 x 320 pixels. I must say that it is an incredible picture.

Ok, well I think that it is a great handheld, but probably a little too pricey for most out there that could settle for something much less than what this is offerring. So far its been difficult for me to get used to, I've kept track of dates and contact information, but I'm so used to using paper and my computer that I sometimes forget that I have this to use. Another thing to mention is that the next model is already out, so this one's been discontinued. They're now up to the N760C. My only downside to this cool little gadget is the fact that it does not work with Windows 2000 or Windows XP. They put out an OS upgrade for your Clie, but it costs $50! Unfortunately its the only way to get it to work with either of those versions of Windows. Haven't done it yet, not sure if I will. New ones I believe are compatible though. Still a fun toy.
